Liverpool F.c displayed master piece football when they battled burnley at anfield. The reds showed that the premier league new boys, burnley, were definitely not a match for them as they controlled every department on the field. Israeli international Yossi benayoun was a thornin the flesh of burnley who could not find an answer to his rampaging moves around their 18 yard box.

Liverpool's constant pressure payed dividends as benayoun struck in the 27th minute of play after he dribbled two burnley defenders, showed gile in front of the goal before tucking it into the right of goalkeeper to open his account for the season. Steven Gerard and Veronin combined with a one-two pass that bewildered burnley defence to find benayoun onside and wide open who showed guile in front of the goal keeper before tucking the ball to left to complete the route for Liverpool.
